Solar Power
Most of the energy that we get from the grid come from burning coal and experts agree that this is one of the worst pollutants on the planet! At NAB Hostel Hollywood, we are committed to getting off the grid and are proud to say that 50% of our electricity comes from renewable sources such as solar power. With so much sun shining down on us here in Hollywood, we figured why not take advantage of it!! Ultimately, we plan to be 100% energy independent but this is a great start! -
Recycling
So simple, yet overlooked by so many! Did you know that recycling 1 can of soda saves enough energy to run a television set for 3 hours?! And all it takes is throwing a can of soda or a bottle of water into a trash can of a different color...and the impact is huge! We have only so many resources on this great planet, so why not make the most of them! At NAB Hostel Hollywood, we have recycling bins in every room and have come up with several other innovative ways to recycle the materials we use every day! Come by and take a look! -
Efficient Appliances
In order to achieve 100% sustainability at NAB HostelHollywood, we need to use less power and conserve resources, simple as that! With that in mind all our appliances come with the approval of the energy star program. In the future, we plan to build our own water recycling system, for now however, we are taking various steps to reduce the amount of water we use! Such steps includeas using a front loading washer - uses 60% less water, efficient toilets - 77% less water(isn't that crazy!), and water-reducing shower nozzles - 50% less water. -
